Canelo Alvarez Signs 11-Fight, $365M Deal With DAZN

Off the heels of a historic decision victory over Middleweight juggernaut Gennady Golovkin, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has secured himself a $375 million contract with a mandated string of bouts, eleven in total.

ESPN has reported that Alvarez inked a five-year, 11-fight, $365 million broadcast deal with DAZN. That fight, like most of boxing's biggest, was shown on pay-per-view.

As far as his new contract is concerned - the richest in the history of pro sports - Canelo says he's not about to go on a spending spree because he's already rich and has everything he wants. The fighter's new contract begins with his move up a division to super middleweight as challenger to Liverpudlian Rocky Fielding's WBA Regular world title at Madison Square Garden, New York, on December 15. "By bringing Canelo's fights to DAZN, we will turn his pay-per-view success into a growth engine for subscribers - a truly transformational moment for our business and the entire industry". He said Alvarez's last three fights generated 3.6 million buys and almost a quarter of a billion dollars, making him someone who can be transformative to a subscription service focused largely - at least for now - on combat sports.

Oscar De La Hoya's 7,000-hour library of fights spanning his career as a boxer and a promoter are included in the partnership and these classic bouts will be available on DAZN.

Google releases Chrome 70, letting you install PWAs on Windows 10
The app will then show up in the Start Menu and pretty much work like you'd expect a native app made for Windows to function. Google refused to specify the amount of the license fee or whether manufacturers would pass it along to customers.

"He's extremely happy", De La Hoya told ESPN after Alvarez signed his new contract. "The most important thing to me was being able to give the fans the opportunity to see me fight without having to pay the $70 or $80 for my fights on pay-per-view.

They're the two most important fighters in the world", DAZN executive chairman John Skipper said. The December fight with Fielding is a unsafe fight. "The most important thing is that fans can enjoy this fight at a very low price". I am moving up in weight and I don't know how my body will feel.

The move represents the latest coup for DAZN, which only launched in the United States in September after announcing a landmark US$1 billion joint venture with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing in what was described as the biggest deal in the sport's history.

Alvarez, 28, is from Mexico.
