While numerous results in the poll fall along familiar partisan lines, it also found that political independents are more suspicious than supportive of the new justice.

"I'd be in favor of opening an investigation into the allegations", said Feinstein. Democrats at his confirmation hearing further accused Kavanaugh of dishonesty over his answers to questions regarding his work in the George W. Bush White House. Lindsay Graham (R., S.C.) previously said that "The "Kavanaugh bump" is real", referencing senators and other political figures that supported Kavanaugh in the face of uncorroborated allegations of sexual misconduct and who have gained in the polls.

Ford said she felt it was her responsibility to come forward once she learned Kavanaugh had been nominated to sit on the highest court in the land.

The House appears more likely than not to flip to Democrats, but it's no sure thing.

President Donald Trump has tried to single-handedly make illegal immigration a top issue for voters while he has barnstormed across the country for Republicans in recent weeks.

Multiple cases of rare polio-like illness under investigation in North Carolina
Parents and caregivers across the country are growing concerned following recent reports of a mysterious, polio-like illness. It is a rare, but serious condition - fewer than one in a million Americans will get AFM every year, the CDC estimates.

Democrats have distanced themselves from some of the more fiery rhetoric from their side of the aisle, including former Attorney General Eric Holder's suggestion that Democrats should "kick" back.

Five Democrats, each the ranking member of their party on House committees, made these allegations in a letter to the General Services Administration (GSA) head, Emily Murphy.

Democrats need to gain 23 seats to wrest control of the House from Republicans, something surveys suggest is within reach.

And on September 26, Julie Swetnik alleged in a sworn statement that she saw Kavanaugh at multiple house parties in the Washington, DC area between 1981-83, where she witnessed him and Judge engaging in conduct that included the 'fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent'. By 51 percent to 41 percent, more adults disapprove than approve of Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation. But White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Thursday that the Democrats' assertions are wrong.

More than 8 in 10 Republicans approve of the confirmation overall, while a similar percentage of Democrats disapprove. Kavanaugh has shown, very clearly, by his weeping, outbursts, failure to tell the truth, and rudeness to committee members during questioning that he does not have the temperament to be a Justice on the Supreme Court.
