David Warner's wife has described the comments directed at her husband as "very hurtful" after the star batsman sensationally left the field during a grade game.

The Australia batsman, serving a 12-month ban from worldwide and domestic cricket for his part in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, departed the middle with 35 runs to his name in the NSW Premier Cricket clash with Western Suburbs.

The left-hander was apparently not happy with a jibe from an opposition player and told an umpire he was removing himself from the game.

Batting for Randwick-Petersham against Western Suburbs, Warner walked off the field while on 35 after an apparent sledge from Jason Hughes - the brother of deceased batsman Phil.

Media reports said Jason Hughes called Warner a "disgrace".

Before this incident, on Friday, Warner announced that he will play in the seventh edition of the Bangladesh Premier League early next year.

As news of his brief walk-off spread, a number of TV crews and reporters arrived at the Pratten Park ground to the west of Sydney but both times Warner later left the field during his innings - at tea and then on his dismissal - he refused to comment on the incident.

Abe sets off for official visit to China
Analysts say the optics of Abe's three-day visit will be more important than the concrete outcomes, which are likely to be modest. On the Taiwan issue, Abe reaffirmed Japan's adherence to its position stated in the 1972 Japan-China Joint Statement.

"Everyone has their opinion but I think there is a difference between sledging and abuse".

'He (Warner) was flat and down, ' Randwick-Petersham team manager Bill Anderson said when reflecting on the potentially ugly on-field incident.

Cricket Australia director Mark Taylor also shared his thoughts on the story as a panellist on Sports Sunday.

"He removed himself firstly because he didn't like what he was hearing and where that could've been taken. I'm concerned about the whole mood around the game", Taylor said.

Candice Warner confirmed that it was Hughes who directed the comments at her husband.

"David is very passionate and he is an aggressive player, that's why he is one of the best players in the world in his position", his wife added.

The three Test players were banned for their roles in attempting to tamper with the ball during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town, found out after Bancroft was caught using sandpaper and putting it down his trousers on the ground's big screen. We've got to start moving on.
