Mac Miller died from mix of fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol, coroner says

Following some uncertainty, Mac Miller's cause of death has now been revealed.

Rapper Mac Miller was killed by a deadly mix of drugs and alcohol, the Los Angeles medical examiner's office said on Monday. The Coroner categorized his death as an accidental overdose.

The publication reports a coroner categorised it as an accidental overdose.

The 26-year-old, who rose to fame after topping USA charts with his debut album in 2011, was found dead at his California home in September. Officials pronounced him dead at the scene. While used to treat severe pain, like that experienced by cancer patients, illegally made fentanyl is often mixed with heroin or cocaine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

An empty bottle of alcohol was found on a nightstand near his bed. A rolled $20 bill with "powdery residue" was found in the artist's right pocket. Last year, the country experienced a record number of drug overdoses, an increase driven by synthetic opioid use, the CDC found. Miller, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, was from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The star-studded event, benefitting The Mac Miller Circles Fund, featured performances from Anderson.Paak, Chance the Rapper, John Mayer, Miguel, ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.

Miller's death came just months after he split from Ariana Grande and weeks after he was charged with a DUI.
