President Donald Trump refused to say whether he regretted any of his previous comments about the Bush family after the death of former President George H.W. Bush.

In light of the former president's passing on Friday, a local man shared his story of driving in George H.W. Bush's motorcade when he visited San Diego.

George H.W. Bush died on Friday at the age of 94.

"There will be very tough times, made even more hard by criticism you may not think is fair", Bush 41 wrote, perhaps in anticipation of the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, as some people have noticed.

The New York Times reports Bush was surrounded by several friends and family as the night wore on. He will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda from Monday evening through Wednesday morning. The remains will be transported by funeral vehicle (train) to College Station.

From former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to current heads of state, leaders praised Bush both for his strength and his moderation, as well as the commitment to internationalism typified by his assembling of a global coalition to oust Iraqi invaders from Kuwait in 1991. The patriarch of a political dynasty, he fathered another president, his son George W. Bush, and a two-term governor and presidential candidate, Jeb Bush.

More details about Bush's funeral arrangements are posted on a tribute website for the former president.

In recent years, Bush suffered from numerous health problems, including Parkinson's disease that kept him wheelchair bound and a bout of severe pneumonia in 2013. The 41st president continued to influence the United States politics, in a way, even after his demise as Donald Trump cancelled a scheduled G20 presser out of respect to his late predecessor. A true testament to his character was his ability to befriend his old political rivals, a reminder that despite our differences, more unites the American people, including its leaders, than divides us. "Whenever I had the opportunity to see him in the White House, working with a foreign leader, that foreign leader had no doubt he was with a friend". Eight years later, in accepting his party's nomination for president in 1988, Bush pleaded for a "kinder, and gentler nation".

He shattered the unwritten norms of the small fraternity of Oval Office occupants by keeping up criticism of the Bushes from the West Wing.
